Allan Oyirwoth reveals Dunfermline support from homeland

The Uganda international is settling into life in Scotland under the charge of boss, Neil Lennon, whom he described as "an incredible person" who coaches in "the right way".

Teenage midfielder Oyirwoth, 19, has become a regular in the Dunfermline side since making a loan move from MLS (Major League Soccer) side, New England Revolution, in August.

His from has resulted in another international call-up, for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Botswana next month, having been in the Uganda squad for games with Tunisia, Libya, and DR Congo, during the last international break.

Oyirwoth, along with his Pars pals, are aiming to go top of the Championship table with a Fife derby victory at Raith Rovers on Friday evening.

That is a result that will be keenly followed by football fans back home as, when asked if the club have made a lot since his arrival at the club, he said: "Yes, they have some fans. There are many.

"They are always backing us. Although they are not able to watch the game, they always find out, they follow what's going on and everything. They love the team.

"They always ask how the club is going, how life is treating me, how I’m adjusting to everything. It’s incredible. Everything is good.

"The players are amazing, everyone is amazing and playing in the Championship with Dunfermline, it’s really very good.

"I'm still learning a lot about the country. I'm learning a lot about the weather!

"You just need to adapt to every situation and continue playing, continue performing.

"I think playing in the Championship, compared to where I was before, I think the physicality is different and the football is direct. You just need to be ready all the time."

Oyirwoth lives with team-mates Olamilekan Adams and Nurudeen Abdulai - "like brothers" and who like "sleeping a lot"- and says that, as well as the support from his manager, has played a key role in adjusting to life in a new country.

"He is an incredible person," he said of Lennon.

"He is very good. He is making everything look easy for us. He is co-operative. He is always guiding us, always coaching us in the right way. He is an incredible coach.

"Staying together (with his team-mates), everything becomes easier. You have someone who is there to help you, to back you up in time of difficulties.

"Maybe you have some difficult moments and you always have a brother who is with you and is always making sure everything is fine, he is always looking after you, so it's good.
