The No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners open the 2026-2027 season in Paris, France, against the No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels. The Sooners hope to build on their Sweet 16 appearance last season and have a great opportunity to set the tone against a top-25 ACC opponent.
The Sooners bring back key players like Aalyiah Chavez and Sahara Williams. Last season, Chavez led the Sooners with 18.4 points and 4.2 assists per game. Williams is the only other returning Sooner who averaged more than 10 points per game last year, after Oklahoma lost Raegan Beers and Peyton Verhulst to graduation and Zya Vann to Texas in the transfer portal.
Sophomore forward Brooklyn Stewart is expected to have a bigger role for the Sooners after averaging 6.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 16 minutes per game as a freshman.
The Sooners added key transfers like center Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu, guard Jordan Speiser, Sa'Myah Smith, and Keeley Parks in the offseason. It was announced on Monday that Parks will miss the season with a knee injury. With the turnover the Sooners faced this offseason, the Sooners won't have a lot of time to work out the chinks against a good basketball team.
Oklahoma has a big challenge ahead of them when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Monday, and here's how you can tune into the action.
The Oklahoma vs. North Carolina game starts at 1:30 p.m. CT from Adidas Arena in Paris, France.
