Arda Guler has reportedly rejected the chance to complete a blockbuster transfer to Arsenal in favour of signing a new contract at Real Madrid.
Article continues under the videoThe Turkey international was wanted by several top Premier League clubs over the summer and it’s understood that Arsenal and Manchester City held talks with his representatives in a bid to gauge the possibility of a deal.
Both clubs were reportedly eager to persuade him to leave Real Madrid, but he opted to remain at the Bernabeu and he has now reached an agreement on a new long-term contract to end any transfer speculation.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who report that Guler has agreed a two-year contract extension with Los Blancos, keeping him at the club until 2031.
The 21-year-old was given assurances over his first-team role at the club this summer and the Spanish giants have now reached an agreement to extend his spell at the Bernabeu following positive contract talks this week.
As a result, a move to Arsenal, or Man City, is now off the table.
In other Real Madrid transfer news, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Endrick will not be permitted to leave the club on loan in January, despite his lack of game time so far this season.
The Brazil striker has been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks, but he came off the bench to inspire Los Blancos to a 4-3 win over AS Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night, notably scoring the equaliser in the 85th minute, and he will remain at the club in January.
“No, no, forget it. If any interested clubs are waiting for him, they better sit down, because they will get exhausted waiting standing up," Mourinho told TNT Sports Brasil before the game.
“Endrick is a player I absolutely adore, a player I believe has huge potential and who is very important to us. Anyone interested in him will have to fight me hard, because I believe he does not need to go out on loan and that he'll have massive success here.”
