Derry SFC final: Magherafelt 3-17 Newbridge 0-20 (FT)

That’s how you win a county final. A brilliant end to a stunning afternoon of club action. The Derry final is ongoing, with Magherafelt building a first-half lead. We’ll update the scores as they come in.

Galway: WHAT an insane finish in Galway. Peter Cooke looked like he had won it for Moycullen with a two-pointer in injury-time. But with time running dead, Tomo Culhane strode forward to bury a goal for Salthill-Knocknacarra! Unbelievable finish to a county final. Their county stars came through there - John Maher fed Matthew Thompson, who put Culhane away. What a crazy, crazy finish. Salthill-Knocknacarra 2-12 Moycullen 1-14

Cork: And Nemo see it out! Mark Cronin was brilliant all day for Nemo and his insurance point does the needful for Nemo Rangers. Nemo Rangers 1-19 St Finbarr’s 2-12

Denis Walsh’s full-time dispatch...

“Nemo Rangers have beaten St Finbarr’s by 1-19 to 2-12 to win their 24th county title after a terrific second half in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Nemo led by eight points early in the second half but St Finbarr’s reduced the deficit to a point with just four minutes left and playing with a dying wind the odds had shifted in their favour.

“Nemo - who had lost the last three finals - managed the closing minutes though with great calmness and kicked the last three scores to win by four.”

Galway: GOAL FOR MOYCULLEN! Madcap finish in the Galway final, as Paul Kelly buries a chance for Moycullen after the initial shot came back off the crossbar. That makes it all square in Pearse Stadium as the clock ticks past 58 minutes. Moycullen 1-12 Salthill-Knocknacarra 1-12

Cork: GOAL FOR ST FINBARR’S! Game on now, as John Wiggington Barrett taps gome from close range to bring the Barrs to within two of Nemo with five minutes to go. Nemo Rangers 1-16 St Finbarr’s 2-11

Limerick: GOAL FOR KILMALLOCK! That’s that. A freak goal, with Graeme Mulcahy launching a long ball in from out the field and everyone missing it as it dropped into the net behind Shane Dowling in the Na Piarsigh goal. Kilmallock are champions for the 13th time. Kilmallock 3-19 Na Piarsigh 1-22

Limerick: GOAL FOR NA PIARSIGH! AND THEN GOAL FOR KILMALLO0CK!

A wild 90 seconds in the Gaelic Grounds. First Will O’Donoghue steamed through for Na Piarsigh to put them into the lead for the first time in the game. But no sooner had they gone ahead than they were behind again, as Kilmallock went up the other end of the pitch qand struck back immediately with a goal of their own. Level game, 15 minutes to go. Brilliant stuff. Kilmallock 2-17 Na Piarsigh 1-20

Cork: GOAL FOR ST FINBARR’S! Brian Hayes gives the Barrs a lifeline with a goal in the 47th minute. It had been plain enough sailing for Nemo up to that but it’s all in the balance now. Nemo Rangers 1-13 St Finbarr’s 1-10

Mayo: And that is surely that in MacHale Park, where Castlebar have found the goal they needed to wriggle clear of Garrymore. It came from a penalty, slotted home by Cian Walsh. The underdogs stuck in there for the longest time but Mitchells will see this out now. Castlebar Mitchells 1-16 Garrymore 0-12

Wexford: All over in wexford Park, where Shelmaliers are county champions for the third time. It got hairy enough for them near the end as Rathnure chased a goal but they hung on for a well-deserved win. Shelmaliers 1-18 Rathnure 2-13

Limerick: Kilmallock’s tails are up here. A few bad wides from Na Piarsigh and there are four points in it now. But Ronan Lynch pulls oner back and there’s only a goal in it. If Na Piarsigh fix their shooting, they’ll fancy closing the gap. Kilmallock 1-16 Na Piarsigh 0-16

Wexford: Rathnure are coming. Jack Redmond banged home their second goal on 52 minutes after a fine run by Rory Higgins. Shels had been coasting, with a seven-point lead, but scores from AJ Redmond and Eoin O’Neill have hauled Rathnure back into it. Shels are three up with 57 minutes on the clock. Can they hang on? Shelmaliers 1-17 Rathnure 2-11

Cork: Half-time dispatch from Denis Walsh in Páirc Uí Chaoimh...

“Nemo lead by St Finbarr’s 1-8 to 0-5 after a lively first half. Nemo led by seven points to nil after 15 minutes but the Barr’s had dragged themselves back into the game before Nemo struck for a goal in first half stoppage time.

“Mark Cronin’s two-point attempt fell short but his brother Stephen rescued the ball and played a pass across the square for Luke Horgan to apply the finish.

“The Barr’s had threatened a goal on at least three occasions, forcing one really good save from Mícheál Aodh Martin, but the champions have a mountain to climb in the second half, even with the wind at their backs.”

Limerick: A couple of yellow cards on the resumption in Limerick and that’s that. Let’s Dance plays out over the PA system and off they go for the second half. And straight away Shane O’Brien chips in with a huge score, pinging the game’s opening goal for Kilmallock! Kilmallock 1-12 Na Piarsigh 0-11

Wexford: Shelmaliers have sprinted from the blocks in the second half, slapping 1-4 past Rathnure to push on into a commanding lead. Rathnure had the best of the opening period but Shels have really taken hold of this now, with a goal from Conor Hearne and excellent shooting from Ross Banville. Big job for Rathnure over the closing 15 minutes here. Shelmaliers 1-15 Rathnure 1-6

Limerick: It wouldn’t be county final Sunday without at least one all-in scrap and the Limerick hurling final has provided it. Things were getting to bit saucy just before the break and as soon as the whistle went to call half-time, both sides started bumping off each other and it was one-in-all-in. Let’s see if the referee takes any action when the teams come out for the second half.

Limerick: It’s been a cracking battle in the Gaelic Grounds. Na Piarsigh skated into an early lead but Kilmallock have dug in to haul themselves back into it and have inched themselves a couple of points ahead coming up to the break. For all of Kilmallock’s pluck in coming back into it, Na Piarsigh will have the wind in the second half so you’d imagine they’ll be happy enough with the scoreline. Kilmallock 0-12 Na Piarsigh 0-9

Mayo: Castlebar were the ones to hit the ground running in MacHale Park, totting up a seven-point lead in the early exchanges against Garrymore. Bob Tuohy, their Mayo midfielder, got things underway with a classy two-pointer and Garrymore struggled to make any impression for long passages of the opening half but to their credit, they dug out a couple of two-pointers in the closing five minutes of the half. Castlebar Mitchells 0-9 Garrymore 0-4

Wexford: Shelmaliers look like they are going to eke out a slim half-time lead in Wexford Park but with the wind behind them in that opening half, they would surely have expected to be further ahead. Rathnure have been the better side and Shels have had to rely on Ross Bannon frees to keep their noses ahead. Big job for them in the second half. Shelmaliers 0-10 Rathnure 1-4

Kildare: Naas have turned it around in Newbridge, as expected. A goal from Cathal Dowling kicks them into a two-point lead with the wind behind them. Big job for Maynooth now. Naas 1-7 Maynooth 0-8

Cork: Denis Walsh has a dispatch for us from Páirc Uí Chaoimh, where the Cork football final is throwing in at 4pm.

“While tens of thousands of pleasure seekers circulate the city centre trying to avoid anything that resembles jazz, a sparse crowd has descended on Pairc Ui Chaoimh for the meeting of St Finbarr’s and Nemo Rangers in the Cork football final. The rain that lashed the city for the last three days has moved on but there is a bitter wind blowing towards the City End.

“The Barrs lost the hurling final last weekend and four players who started that game line out again: Brian Hayes, William Buckley, Ciarán Doolan and Jonathan Wigginton Barrett.

“Nemo last won the title in 2022, but have lost three finals since. No team has lost four finals in a row since the 1930s.”

Limerick: Underway in the Galeic Grounds between Na Piarsigh and Kilmallock. No end of Limerick All-Ireland stars on show here as Na Piarsigh go for their eighth title in 12 years.

Wexford: Early goal for Shelmaliers in Wexford Park after a bad mix-up at the back left a handy chance for Shane Lawler to tap home to an empty net. Sloppy from Rathnure who had otherwise made a decent start. Shelmaliers 1-1 Rathnure 0-2

The first wave of games are either over or entering the final stretch. So we’ve had wins for old firm teams in the shape of Ballyhale and Dr Crokes already with finals in Fermanagh, Leitrim and Waterford still up for grabs. The next wave of throw-ins are imminent, with Wexford (hurling) and Mayo (football) just underway.

Kerry: All over in Killarney and Crokes see it out to take their 15th Kerry title. It was a right ding-dong of a game but that spell of four two-pointers in the space of five minutes midway through the second half settled it for the Killarney side. Dr Crokes 1-24 Kenmare Shamrocks 2-14

Kildare: Fast start for the underdogs in Newbridge, where Maynooth have taken a four-point lead against heavy favourites Naas with five minutes left until the break. They’ve used the wind to build their lead, albeit you’d imagine Naas won’t be too perturbed with the best of the conditions to come. Maynooth 0-7 Naas 0-4

Waterford: Back underway in Dungarvan and The Nire have tacked on two quick points upon the restart to cut the gap to five points. Rathgormack 1-9 The Nire 0-7

Kerry: The tide feels like its turning in Dr Crokes’ favour now. Back-to-back two-pointers from Tony Brosnan and David Shaw push them into a two-point lead. Kenmare have fought bravely so far but with the wind against them, it’s going to take something special for them to hang in here. But Brosnan bangs over another one! That’s four orange flags in the space of a few minutes to completely turn this one on its head. Dr Crokes 1-22 Kenmare 2-13

Kerry: It’s turning into a thriller in Killarney, as Kenmare dig in to try and fend off this Dr Crokes comeback. The Crokes managed to get back level through Brian Looney and Cian McMahon but that man Seánie O’Shea is carrying his side like a man possessed and his two-point free into the wind eased Kenmare clear again with a quarter of an hour to go. Kenmare 2-12 Dr Crokes 1-13

Kilkenny: All over in Nowlan Park and Ballyhale go two clear at the top of the roll of honour. It was over early, as Tullaroan simply didn’t turn up. Ballyhale Shamrocks 2-24 Tullaroan 0-8

Fermanagh: A one-sided contest in Enniskillen, where Ultan Kelm has been outstanding for Éire Óg Beleek. The wind has clearly played its part but 1-3 from Kelm put Beleek in a commanding position. Derrygonnelly went almost the whole half without scoring but a brief flurry just before the break has given them a chance. Éire Óg Beleek 1-9 Derrygonnelly Harps 0-5

Kerry: Big start to the second half with a goal for either side. Kerry midfielder Mark O’Shea finished off soccer-style for Dr Crokes within two minutes of the restart to bring the margin back to just a point. But less than 60 seconds later, Kenmare hit back with a goal of their own after a goalmouth scramble. They still lead by four. Kenmare 2-8 Dr Crokes 1-7

Waterford: Goal for Rathgormack, as full-forward Stephen Curry makes his first meaningful contribution, getting through the cover quite easily. The Nire had been hanging in there pretty well against the wind but that’s a big score for the defending champions. Rathgormack 1-7 The Nire 0-4

Leitrim: Ballinamore have made decent use of the wind in Carrick-on-Shannon so far, with a couple of two-pointers from Tom Prior and Paul Moran earning them an early lead halfway through the first of the replay. Ballinamore 0-6 Fenagh 0-2

Kilkenny: It’s a dead duck in Nowlan Park at this stage. Ballyhale have come out just as able to do what they please in the second half as in the first. They’ve added 1-3 against the wind in the first 10 minutes, Tullaroan haven’t been able to raise a gallop at all. With 20 minutes to go, both sides are just playing out the string now. Ballyhale 2-18 Tullaroan 0-2

Kerry: Half-time in Fitzgerald Stadium, Kenmare lead by 4. Seánie O’Shea has scored six points of their 1-8 total, including a two-point free and another two-pointer from play. On a day when weather is going to have its say everywhere, four points feels like a slim enough lead. We’ll see. Kenmare Shamrocks 1-8 Dr Crokes 0-7

Throw-in time imminent in the Fermanagh, Leitrim and Waterford football finals. Hold onto your hats.

Kerry: Dr Crokes have settled a bit in Killarney, with Tony Brosnan, Charlie Heating and Cillian Fitzgerald chipping in. Kenmare know they have to build a score with this wind though and Seanie O’Shea is keeping them ticking over. They lead by five with five minutes to go until the break. Kenmare 1-7 Dr Crokes 0-5

Kilkenny: Ballyhale are comfortable in Nowlan Park. It took Tullaroan 24 minutes to find a score from play but with Cody, Mullen and Reid dominating matters, the Shamrocks have barely put a foot wrong. They lead by 16 at half-time, despite a few slightly careless wides just before the break. The wind is strong but it ain’t 16 points strong. Ballyhale Shamrocks 1-15 Tullaroan 0-2

Kerry: Kenmare are making full use of the wind so far. Seánie O’Shea swings over a two-pointer from play to kick them into a seven-point lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Kenmare 1-5 Dr Crokes 0-1

Kerry: Underway in Killarney, where Dr Crokes are chasing their 15th county title. Facing them are Kenmare Shamrocks, chasing their first. A few of these Kenmare players have been in a final before as part of the Kenmare District team back in 2016 but this is their first time in the decider as a standalone club. And it’s the newcomers who have made the better start, with a goal from David Ciuciu pushing them into an early lead at Fitzgerald Stadium. Kenmare 1-3 Dr Crokes 0-0

Kilkenny: Ominously for Tullaroan, TJ Reid has got in on the act now. It took him 12 minutes to even get the ball into his hand but he’s just iced a free and that’s an eight-point lead for the champions. Brian Cody follows up with another from play. This could be over already. Ballyhale 1-6 Tullaroan 0-0

Kilkenny: Ballyhale have settled much the better in Nowlan Park. Cody (2) and Mullen have tacked on points to push them six ahead inside the first seven minutes. They do have the wind but Tullaroan need to find a way to settle here. Ballyhale 1-4 Tullaroan 0-0

Kilkenny: GOAL FOR BALLYHALE! The Kilkenny final starts with a bang, as Adrian Mullen scrambles home a goal after 21 seconds. Eoin Cody streaked through but his shot was saved. Mullen was quickest to tidy up the rebound. Ballyhale 1-0 Tullaroan 0-0

Team news from the Kerry final.

Like the runners in the Dublin marathon this morning, the game are staggered in terms of start times this afternoon. For the first while, we’ll be mostly keeping an eye on matters in Kilkenny in hurling and Kerry in football.

The Kilkenny final is fascinating, with Ballyhale and Tullaroan facing off not just for this year’s bragging right but also for top spot in the Kilkenny roll of honour. Up until last year, Tullaroan had never not been top of the list in terms of county championships, either jointly or, for the vast majority of the competition’s history, on their own. Ballyhale’s win in 2025 was their 21st title, pushing the one past Tullaroan for the first time ever. And so this is Tullaroan’s chance to grab that back, despite not having been to a final since 1994.

We’ve already had a couple of champions crowned this weekend, of course. Following on from Edendork’s historic first Tyrone title on Friday night, Kilmacud Crokes became Dublin hurling champions for the eighth time last night in Parnell Park. It was ultimately a bloodless enough affair against Cuala, with Crokes using the wind to build up a big half-time lead and Cuala making no real impression after the break. Gordon Manning was there for us and you can read his report here.

It’s late October, the wind is howling and there’s a massive Sunday of county finals ahead. We’ll keep you updated throughout the afternoon as a dozen titles are down for decision right around the country. The Kilkenny and Limerick finals are on TG4, with finals in Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Kildare available on Clubber. Fun day ahead.
