Michael Carrick has arrived at Carrington to watch Manchester United's Under-21s in action as club chiefs continue to hold talks over his future.

United's Under-21s are playing a behind-closed-doors friendly against Hull City on Monday afternoon and Carrick is set to attend. He arrived at the training ground at approximately 1.50pm.

Carrick will watch the U21s play in a friendly while Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox weigh up his future. Both Berrada and Wilcox are at Carrington, having reported to the training ground for crisis talks this morning.

United's board have been weighing up whether to sack Carrick after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which means United have now gone eight games without a win across all competitions.

When Carrick was asked if he expected to be sacked after losing to Bournemouth, he said: "I totally understand the situation. I'm not expecting anything in particular, to be honest.

"Carrying on as normal, and you know, I love this place. I'll always do what I feel is going to be best for the football club, whatever decision is made on anything, really. So that's kind of it. I'm not expecting anything either way.

"I take the responsibility. Of course, I take responsibility. I've said that, and I accept the responsibility. Whatever is going to happen results-wise, whether we win, we lose, draw, whatever happens through the whole football club, I'm in this position because I respect the position that I'm in, and the responsibility is mine. What else can I say, really, right now?"

The United boss saluted the Stretford End but clarified during an interview with Sky Sports that it was not a farewell.

Eddie Howe, Unai Emery, Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann have all been mentioned as possible replacements for Carrick. Former Newcastle manager Howe, who departed the Magpies over the summer, is thought to be Wilcox's preferred option.
