The first ten minutes of this top National 2 encounter saw Titans controlling the game.
Then a loose pass which Hinckley picked up and ran in for their first try, writes Hugh Duder.
Consecutive penalties conceded by Titans, and Hinckley were in again on 18 minutes to lead 12-0.
A third try followed for 19-0 on 32 minutes.
Four minutes later Alfie Johns scored Titans' first try after a catch and maul from a lineout five metres out.
Bringing the halftime score to 19-7 in favour of the hosts.
Titans, with the breeze behind them, and the slope on this narrow pitch in their favour, needed to restart positively.
On 49 minutes Alfie Johns scored his second try, converted by Tom Putt from a strong driving maul 19-14.
The next score would be crucial and Titans certainly created opportunities, which they failed to convert.
Whilst Hinckley's defence was hard to penetrate so were the Titans.
It wasn't until the 70th minute that the hosts stole the ball on Taunton's 22 and managed to turn their fortuitous possession into a try 24-14.
With time running short, Alfie Johns was clearly denied his hat-trick try under the posts as he reached for the whitewash.
A penalty for Taunton was kicked to the corner, but Hinckley won the lineout - but they infringed and a yellow card was given.
Titans kicked the ensuing penalty for three points and took home a losing bonus point - scant consolation for the effort they put in against resolute opposition.
The league takes a week off and Taunton resume on October 31 with a home game v Cinderford k.o. 3pm.
