Manchester United player ratings vs Como with one 2/10 and four 3/10s as Reds humbled

Man Utd turned in one of their worst European performances in recent memory as they lost 4-1 to Como in the Champions League.

An argumentative Bruno Fernandes was awful for Manchester United against Como

Michael Carrick's future as Manchester United head coach is hanging by a thread after his team produced a dismal display in going down 4-1 to Como in the Champions League.

United made another dreadful start to a European away game, conceding inside two minutes as Nico Paz was granted time and space to curl home an excellent finish. They were lucky to be only one behind at the break.

But Carrick's half-time changes and team talk had no impact. Anastasios Douvikas scored at the start of the second half and Paz added a third soon after. Jacobo Ramon then headed in a fourth before Joshua Zirkzee added a late consolation.

This is how the United players rated in Como:

Senne Lammens: No chance with the early goal. One wayward kick soon after. Can't really blame him for any of the catastrophe unfolding in front of him. 6

Diogo Dalot: Should have done better with a chance inside the first minute. Switched to left-back in the second half but not really clear why. 4

Matthijs de Ligt: Strong defending in the box in the early stages to clear a cross when under pressure. Douvikas too sharp for him for the second goal, but hardly a surprise. 5

Harry Maguire: Slow to close down Paz, who took advantage of the time and space to pick out the top corner. Set the tone for a sloppy evening. 3

Noussair Mazraoui: Slow start to the game and never improved. Didn't read the play, lethargic to the ball, slow with his passing and not strong enough in the tackle. Woeful performance. 2

Andrey Santos: Booked after being skinned by Paz, when he dived in with no chance of winning the ball. Had already committed one late tackle and little choice but to take him off at the break. 3

Mason Mount: Easy to feel a little sorry for him being thrown into a game like this, but he didn't rise to the challenge and was swamped in midfield. 4

Bruno Fernandes: Moaned and complained at his teammates almost constantly in the first half. Is offering nothing at the moment and doesn't deserve his place in the team. 3

Youri Tielemans: I'm not sure where he is supposed to be playing in this system, and I'm not sure he is either. Had the first shot on target after an hour, but it was tame. 4

Matheus Cunha: Let Paz jog past him for the opening goal and was a passenger in the game after that. Had heated words with Carrick and Fernandes. 4

Bryan Mbeumo: Started on the wing despite scoring goals as a No.9 recently. Tried to get into the game but a desperate lack of service and intent behind him. 5

Substitutes

Carlos Baleba: Came on to bring some energy but too enthusiastic when trying to press Lucas Da Cunha for the second goal and gifted Paz the ball for the third. 3

Amad: Tried to make an impact off the bench and fizzed one shot just over the bar. 6

Joshua Zirkzee: Came on at 3-0, took his goal well. 6

Harry Amass: Have to feel for him coming in to this shambles at 4-0. 6

Subs not used: Darlow, Heaton, Kamason, Armer, J. Fletcher, T. Fletcher, Lacey, Thompson
