Ramos reveals why he is enjoying life more at Milan than with PSG: “I just wanted to leave”

Goncalo Ramos has revealed that he is loving his new starting role at AC Milan, and he wanted to leave PSG earlier to become a key man.

It was very early in the summer when Milan made their biggest ever splash, agreeing a club-record fee worth over €70m to sign Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain, not long after he had become a Champions League winner for a second time.

While the goals are not exactly flowing just yet, Ramos already seems to be a good fit for the way Ruben Amorim wants to play and he has started all but two games so far this season, netting three times.

He gave an interview to Portuguese newspaper Canal 11, on the program Soltinhos pelo Mundo. The Portuguese went into detail about the moments when he was deciding whether to leave Paris , explaining how Milan managed to seduce him. Below are his words, via MilanPress.

How did you end up going from PSG to Milan?

“I was planning on leaving PSG in January, but it wasn’t that easy, and it wasn’t even the best option for me. I just wanted to leave. The club, however, refused, promising they’d let me leave in the summer.

“So, during the World Cup, Milan showed interest in me: Ruben [Amorim] called me and made it clear he wanted me, I was his choice. He told me we could achieve great things together. I thanked him for his trust.”

How are you finding it at Milan?

“I asked around among my national teammates, those who had been coached by Amorim, and they all gave me good feedback. Once I signed, they told me they’d like it, and so I am.

“I’m enjoying everything; the situation is completely different: I play with the number 9 and I’m truly fulfilling my role. At PSG, I didn’t play in my position, now I can do what I’m good at.”

What’s your relationship with Modric like?

“We played against Croatia at the World Cup, and by then I had already signed. I asked Modric if he would stay, but he told me he didn’t know yet. We get along great, and we sit next to each other in the dressing room. He’s quiet, but when it’s time to joke, he actively participates.”
