Liverpool: New footage of Yehor Yarmoliuk headbutt in Brentford loss reveals red card theory

An alternate view of Yehor Yarmoliuk 's headbutt on Jeremy Jacquet has emerged following Brentford ’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool . The Brentford midfielder was shown a straight red card deep into first half stoppage time on Saturday, an incident that proved to be the turning point in the game as the hosts were leading at the time . Yarmoliuk and Jacquet clashed inside the penalty area, though Liverpool were not awarded a spot-kick because the corner had not yet been delivered when the Frenchman went to ground. Referee John Brooks had initially missed the incident in real time but was called over to the VAR monitor to conduct a review and then decided to give the Ukraine international his marching orders. The Premier League ’s Match Centre have confirmed that Yarmoliuk was shown a red card because his action was considered violent. A statement reads: “After VAR review, the referee issued a red card to Yarmoliuk for violent conduct. REF: “After review, the Brentford No.6 commits a headbutting action. The final decision is a red card”. However, it has been spotted by many supporters on social media that Ronald Araujo appeared to bump Yarmoliuk in the back which forced the midfielder to lean forward and connect with Jacquet. "We need to look at ourselves first, which we always do. We don't really tend to look at what part they played within the incident," said Andrews in his post-match press conference. "I do think they were cute, clever - but Yarmo needs to do better, so I can understand why it was a red. "If you look at where Jacquet is walking, he's not looking at the ball, is he? He's walking in to Yarmo. We focus on us and our actions within that and you can make up your own mind. "Yarmo is an amazing young man. I think we need to remember he is young, very young, and he is someone who we love working with and trying to develop. He will learn from it."
