Ghana U-23 head coach Desmond Ofei has named his final 23-man squad for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.

The Black Meteors will travel to Benghazi for the first leg of the two-legged encounter, scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2026, as Ghana begin their quest to secure a place at the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

Barcelona B youngster Aziz Issah leads eight foreign-based players selected for the crucial qualifying assignment. The other overseas-based players include David Oduro of Annecy, Oscar Frimpong of Real Madrid II, Aaron Essel of Sacramento Republic FC, Phyenyin-Denis Marfo of SC Internacional, Lord Afrifa of SC Austria Lustenau, Joseph Opoku of Swansea City and Dan Adu-Adjei of HNK Rijeka.

They will be joined by a blend of home-based talents, including Hubert Gyau and Emmanuel Sanja of Asante Kotoko, Kelvin Nkrumah of Medeama SC, Alidu Labaran of Vision FC, Raymond Agyemang of Aduana FC, Ishmael Addo of Heart of Lions, Eric Wiafe of Swedru All Blacks, Owusu Ansah of Port City FC and Firdaus Mohammed of Steadfast FC, among others.

Ghana will be seeking a positive result over the two legs to advance to the next qualifying round, where they will face the winner of the encounter between Equatorial Guinea and Niger.

The three-round qualification series will determine the seven countries that join hosts Egypt for the eight-team U-23 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Black Meteors seek to end the country’s long absence from men’s Olympic football. Ghana last featured at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, and a successful qualifying campaign would revive hopes of returning to the global sporting showpiece..
