Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei has earned a place in Desmond Ofei's 23-man Black Meteors squad for the upcoming 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
The 21-year-old Real Madrid Castilla defender is among the eight foreign-based players selected for the two-legged encounter as Ghana seek to progress in their bid to reach the tournament in Egypt.
Naasei's invitation comes after an important career move in August, when Real Madrid secured his services from Granada in a deal reportedly worth around €2 million.
The Accra-born defender joined the Spanish giants' reserve side, Castilla, after making significant progress at Granada, where he developed through the youth ranks before earning opportunities with the senior team.
He made his competitive debut for Real Madrid Castilla on August 31, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw away to Teruel in the Primera Federación.
Primarily a centre-back, Naasei can also operate at right-back, with his physical presence and versatility making him a useful defensive option.
His selection by Ofei offers him another opportunity to represent Ghana after previously featuring for the senior national team.
Naasei is joined in the Black Meteors squad by Barcelona B youngster Aziz Issah, David Oduro of Annecy, Aaron Essel of Sacramento Republic FC, Lord Afrifa of SC Austria Lustenau, Joseph Opoku of Swansea City, Phyenyin-Denis Marfo of SC Internacional and Dan Adu-Adjei of HNK Rijeka.
Ghana will face Libya in the first leg in Benghazi on Wednesday, November 11, with the return fixture to follow as they seek a place in the next qualifying round.
