Hearts of Oak pip Vision FC as Berekum Chelsea cruise over Heart of Lions
Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak secured back-to-back victories in the Ghana Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over Vision FC, while Berekum Chelsea claimed their first away victory of the season by beating Heart of Lions 2-0.

The Phobians left it late to secure all three points at the Nii Adjei Kraku Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday, with Kwesi Asmah scoring the decisive goal in the 86th minute.

Asmah capitalised on a loose clearance inside the penalty area before firing home with his left foot to seal victory for Hearts of Oak.

The win follows their narrow triumph over Port City and strengthens their position near the top of the league table.

Hearts now sit second with 14 points, while Vision FC remain 15th with six points after another disappointing result.

Hearts will aim to extend their winning run when they host Basake Holy Stars in their next league fixture, while Vision FC travel to face Dreams FC.

Elsewhere, Berekum Chelsea recorded an impressive 2-0 away victory over Heart of Lions at the Kpando Stadium to register their first win on the road this season.

Dramani Awuah broke the deadlock in the 39th minute before Paul Attah Agyei doubled Chelsea’s advantage in the 69th minute.

The visitors proved clinical in front of goal despite Heart of Lions enjoying periods of possession, handing the hosts their second consecutive defeat.

Heart of Lions have dropped to 13th in the standings with eight points and will look to return to winning ways when they travel to face Bibiani Gold Stars.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have climbed to seventh with 10 points and will welcome FC Samartex in their next league encounter.

The remaining seven matches of Matchday Seven are scheduled to take place on Sunday at venues across the country.
