Xabi Alonso (Chelsea)

Chelsea were the Premier League’s top scorers in October, netting nine goals as they won three of their four games. Alonso’s side started the month by thrashing AFC Bournemouth 5-1. The Blues also enjoyed 2-0 wins over both Everton and Manchester United to climb back into the top four.

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
P3 W3 D0 L0 GD+4
Arteta got Arsenal’s Premier League title defence back on track as he led his side to three wins out of three. Having ended September with a shock 3-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion, the Gunners responded with hard-fought victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, with two of Arteta’s subs – Bruno Guimaraes and Noni Madueke – scoring the winners in those games. Arsenal then maintained their 100 per cent record in October by beating Everton 2-0.

Roberto De Zerbi (Tottenham Hotspur)
P4 W3 D1 L0 GD+6
Having started the month without a win in the Premier League this season, Tottenham Hotspur ended it with three straight victories as De Zerbi took his side out of the bottom three and into the top half of the table. After building confidence with a last-gasp draw at Man Utd, De Zerbi’s Spurs found form in a 3-1 win over Coventry City, before beating their London rivals Chelsea 2-0 – only their second league victory at Stamford Bridge in 36 years. The Italian’s side rounded off a stellar month by beating Crystal Palace 2-0.

Unai Emery (Aston Villa)

Emery’s Aston Villa became the first team to take points off Manchester City this season when Nicolas Jackson’s double helped secure a 2-1 home win against Enzo Maresca’s men. Villa also registered an impressive away win at Newcastle United in an unbeaten month.

Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton & Hove Albion)
P4 W3 D0 L1 GD+6
Brighton’s stunning start to the season continued in October, as Hurzeler led his side to three wins out of four to keep them third in the table. The Seagulls’ standout result of the month came when they won 1-0 at Etihad Stadium, their first ever away victory at Man City in any competition, at the 18th attempt. They also beat Sunderland 2-0 with 10 men and thrashed rivals Crystal Palace 5-0, their biggest win over their rivals in 70 years.

Marco Rose (AFC Bournemouth)
P4 W3 D0 L1 GD+3
Rose earned his first win as Bournemouth boss with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland. He then oversaw an even more impressive 3-0 win at Man Utd, before making it three straight wins and clean sheets by beating Leeds 2-0, moving his side out of the relegation zone and up to eighth in the table.
