Hearts of Oak coach Nebojsa Kapor has warned his players against underestimating Basake Holy Stars, insisting that Friday’s Ghana Premier League encounter will demand a serious approach.
The Phobians welcome the fifth-placed side to the University of Ghana Stadium on October 23, with both teams looking to build on victories in their previous matches.
Hearts beat Vision FC 1-0 to record their second consecutive league win, while Basake Holy Stars also secured a 1-0 victory over Bechem United.
Despite Hearts’ position in the standings, Kapor says his team will not assume superiority over their opponents.
“We are not going to tell we are better team and we will win. No, never. We are really going to approach them very deep from every single department from every single individual player,” he said.
Kapor believes a thorough assessment of Basake Holy Stars will be essential as Hearts prepare for the Matchday 8 fixture.
“Every game here is very difficult. Especially from mentality side we have to face this game very tough,” he added.
Hearts are second with 14 points from seven matches, while Basake Holy Stars have collected 12 points and could move above the Phobians with a win.
The encounter is expected to be closely contested, with the two sides having recorded one victory each and two draws in their last four meetings since September 2024.
Their most recent meeting in March 2026 ended goalless.
