The Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) 2026/27 Soccabet Division Two League kicks off this weekend, with 76 clubs across five zones beginning an eight-month campaign for regional honours, Middle League qualification and survival.
New Town Youth FC will face Na God FC in the opening fixture, setting the stage for a season expected to provide competitive opportunities for clubs and emerging football talents across Greater Accra.
The 76 participating clubs have been distributed among five zones, with Zones One, Two, Three and Five comprising 15 teams each, while Zone Four has 16. Matches will be played on a home-and-away basis.
The stakes are high, with only eight clubs qualifying for the 2026/27 Soccabet Middle League, where they will compete for the ultimate prize and regional supremacy.
Relegation battles will also be fierce. In the four 15-team zones, the bottom two clubs will be automatically relegated to Division Three, while the third-from-bottom sides will contest a one-off playoff to determine which club survives. Zone Four, which has 16 teams, will send its bottom three clubs directly to Division Three.
Soccabet’s sponsorship package includes four free league matches for each participating club, while all eight Middle League qualifiers will compete at that stage without paying participation fees for the second consecutive season.
The sponsorship will also support monthly awards recognising outstanding players, coaches, referees and assistant referees. GARFA has also secured Clear TV as its new broadcast partner, with the station scheduled to televise four league matches live every week and record another four for later broadcast.
The previous season’s overall winner received GH¢10,000, with the GARFA Executive Council considering an increase for the new campaign. Thirty gold and 30 silver medals will also be available at the Middle League finals.
GARFA Chairman and Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire, popularly known as Kattah has encouraged clubs to uphold discipline, fair play and the competition’s regulations.
“We wish all 76 clubs the very best for the new season. Our expectation is that every team will compete with discipline, respect the rules and demonstrate the true spirit of football,” Mr Aboabire said.
“We are committed to providing a fair and competitive environment, and we urge clubs, players and officials to help make this season successful,” he said.
With promotion ambitions, financial incentives and relegation at stake, the new campaign promises an intense contest across all five zones.
