Chelsea have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott over personal terms as they explore a possible move for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.
The Blues are said to be keen on signing the England midfielder, with Xabi Alonso reportedly playing a role in convincing him to consider a move to Stamford Bridge.
Alonso is said to have spoken directly with Scott during the summer, helping strengthen Chelsea’s pursuit of the Bournemouth player.
However, securing an agreement with Bournemouth could prove difficult, with the Cherries reportedly demanding more than £100 million for the midfielder.
Although Chelsea have made progress in discussions over personal terms, no agreement has been reached between the two clubs regarding a transfer fee.
The reported valuation could therefore become a major obstacle as Chelsea consider whether to proceed with their interest in January.
Scott has attracted attention for his performances in Bournemouth’s midfield, and Chelsea are understood to view him as a potential addition to their squad.
