Barcelona: Chelsea star on Deco’s radar as he considers January exit

According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Barcelona are monitoring Estevao’s situation at Chelsea as the Brazilian winger reportedly grows frustrated with his lack of playing time under head coach Xabi Alonso.

The 19-year-old could consider leaving Stamford Bridge when the January transfer window opens if his situation does not improve.

Estevao was an unused substitute during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup elimination against Liverpool on Wednesday night. The match ended 1-1 before Liverpool secured victory in a penalty shootout.

Despite the absence of Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, Alonso did not bring the Brazilian winger into the game. This has raised further questions about his role in the manager’s plans.

Estevao has reportedly played only 163 minutes this season, including 125 minutes in the Carabao Cup. His limited opportunities have increased uncertainty over his future at the London club.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is understood to be a long-time admirer of the youngster. He reportedly considers Estevao one of the most exciting attacking talents to emerge from Brazil since Neymar.

The Catalan club previously monitored the winger during his time at Palmeiras but could not match Chelsea’s financial offer of more than €60 million to secure his signature.

His current situation in London could now encourage Barcelona to revisit their interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Estevao’s dribbling ability, creativity in tight spaces and skill in operating between the lines are qualities that could suit Barcelona’s attacking style.

However, there have been no confirmed negotiations between Barcelona and Chelsea, and it remains unclear whether the Premier League club would consider allowing the teenager to leave.

A loan move could be an option if Chelsea decide that regular playing time elsewhere would benefit his development.

For now, Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation as Estevao’s future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain.
