Turkish coach Kasim Gokyildiz has resigned as head coach of Heart of Lions after just eight matches into the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Gokyildiz's departure comes amid a difficult start to the campaign for the Kpando-based club, who have managed just one victory in their opening eight matches.
Lions have collected eight points from their first eight games and sit just one point above the relegation zone, increasing the pressure on the technical team as the season progresses.
The Turkish trainer returned to Ghana ahead of the campaign after signing a one-year contract with the club, with an option for renewal.
His appointment followed the departure of experienced Ghanaian coach Bashir Hayford, whose contract expired after his spell in charge of the club.
However, the former King Faisal, Bechem United and Hohoe United coach has now stepped down after only eight league matches, leaving Lions facing another change in leadership during a challenging campaign.
Gokyildiz's resignation presents the club's management with the task of finding a new head coach capable of improving their performances and steering them away from the relegation battle.
With the Ghana Premier League season still in its early stages, Lions will be hoping to stabilise their campaign and rediscover the form needed to climb the league table.
The club's next appointment will be crucial as they seek to turn their fortunes around and avoid being dragged deeper into the fight for survival.
