The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has announced the 14 players selected by Karim Meftal to represent Morocco at the first edition of the U15 World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 22 to 30 October.
Six of the Lionceaux de l’Atlas included in the squad come from the Mohammed VI Football Academy, making it the best-represented institution in the selection. The academy is regarded as a leading national centre for developing young Moroccan talent.
Club Jeunesse Ben Guerir provides the second-largest contingent, with five players named by Meftal. The remaining three places are occupied by Mohamed Fahd El Assas of FUS Rabat, Mohamed Amine Rezgaoui of AS FAR Rabat and Ziad Aboud of RS Berkane.
No player from Rajani du Wydad Casablanca was included in the squad.
Morocco will play five matches during the opening phase of the tournament before the competition’s next stage is confirmed. The team’s campaign begins on Saturday, 24 October, against the Philippines.
The schedule continues on Sunday, when Morocco will face Costa Rica and Belize. The side will then complete the first phase with two further matches on Monday, against Curacao and Liberia.
The programme for the second stage will be determined later, based on the results from the opening phase. That part of the competition is scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 October.
