2026 CAF WCL: Ampem Darkoa thrash USFAS Bamako 5-1 in opener
Ampem Darkoa Ladies

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies made an impressive start to their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a convincing 5-1 victory over Mali’s USFAS Bamako on Monday.

The WAFU B champions recovered from an early setback to secure all three points and move to the top of Group B.

USFAS Bamako took the lead after just 12 minutes when Oumou Kone delicately chipped the ball over Ampem Darkoa goalkeeper Rose Teye Baah to give the Malian side an early advantage.

However, Ampem Darkoa responded strongly, scoring twice before the break to turn the game around.

Angelina Yeboah restored parity with a close-range finish after connecting with Nancy Amon’s effort across the face of goal.

Patricia Agyei then put Charles Anokye Frimpong’s side ahead with an excellent finish to make it 2-1.

Ampem Darkoa continued to threaten, with Amoh and Agyei both coming close to extending their lead before half-time.

The Ghanaian side thought they had added a third after the restart when Amoh found the net, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review for offside.

USFAS Bamako also had a goal ruled out after a handball was spotted in the build-up.

Ampem Darkoa eventually extended their advantage through Yeboah, who completed her brace with a composed finish after being set up by a delightful through ball from Beline Nyarko.

Nyarko got on the scoresheet herself moments later to make it 4-1 before Amoh completed the emphatic victory with an impressive solo effort.

The result puts Ampem Darkoa at the summit of Group B and gives them a strong platform ahead of their next fixture against Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Girls.
