Ghana’s Black Starlets have secured first place in Group A of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship after a goalless draw with hosts Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.
The result means Coach Kassim Ocansey’s team completed the group stage unbeaten, taking seven points from three matches. Their record included two victories and one draw.
Ghana began the tournament with a 1-0 win over Togo before producing a 3-1 victory against Benin. That second result confirmed their place in the semi-finals, while the stalemate with Burkina Faso completed their Group A schedule.
The Black Starlets scored four goals and conceded only once across their three matches, highlighting their defensive strength and consistency throughout the opening phase of the competition.
Their clean sheet against Burkina Faso also preserved Ghana’s unbeaten run as the team turned its attention to the knockout stage.
Ocansey and his technical team must now wait for the final Group B fixture between Nigeria and Ivory Coast to establish who Ghana will face in the semi-finals.
Having finished at the top of Group A, the Black Starlets will seek to maintain their form in the last four as they pursue the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship title and qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
