During the last couple of years, every home game has been an agonizing experience for Spurs’ long-suffering fans. Their patience, and loyalty, has been tested to the limit. Heading into Week 7, Tottenham and Bournemouth were the only two teams in the Premier yet to taste a win.
This season, Spurs have played three game at home and have racked up two defeats (0-2 to Newcastle and 2-3 to Aston Villa) plus one draw (0-0 against Everton).
Roberto De Zerbi gives his verdict on today's game.

Two NFL teams have managed to do what Spurs supporters are still waiting for their team to do - win in N17. A crowd of 60,907 watched the Indianapolis Colts beat the Washington Commanders 30-13 on October 4 in the 13th NFL game to be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And last week the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Philadelphia Eagles in their Week 5 regular season showdown in London.
Spurs poor home record isn’t new. In 2025, with Thomas Frank at the helm, the team lost 10 Premier League home games. That equaled the club record for the worst run of defeats in one calendar year - 10 in 1994 under Steve Perryman and Gerry Francis and again in 2003 under David Pleat.
As we enter the final months of 2026 let’s take a look at how things stand. Tottenham started the year with a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland. They lost the next home game to West Ham and were held by Man City in the following one. Then came four defeats on the trot: Newcastle, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace all went away with three points. Two draws - against Brighton and Leeds before the team redeemed themselves by beating Everton on the final day.
That takes the total of home league defeats in 2026 to seven - eight if we include the FA Cup Third Round elimination by Aston Villa.

Spurs have seven home games left to play before the New Year kicks in - starting with Monday night’s visit from Coventry. After that, Roberto De Zerbi’s men will host Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Fulham, Arsenal, Bournemouth and Brighton.
With any luck the tide will eventually change but the team needs to start winning now - if they lose four or more of the remaining home matches between now and January, Spurs will sink to a new low.
