Ghanaian forward Daniel Agyei was among the goals as Kocaelispor recorded an impressive 2-0 away victory over Eyupspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.
The 28-year-old gave the visitors a dream start by opening the scoring in the fifth minute at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium, setting Kocaelispor on course for a deserved three points.
Agyei showed sharp instincts inside the penalty area after Eyupspor goalkeeper Ivo Grbić parried Mahamadou Susoho's initial effort into his path. The Ghanaian reacted quickest to the loose ball, calmly slotting home from close range to hand his side an early advantage.
Kocaelispor continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their lead in the 28th minute. Midfielder Berkan Kutlu finished off a well-worked attacking move involving Makana Baku and Rigoberto Rivas to put the visitors firmly in control before the half-time interval.
Eyupspor improved after the restart and attempted to mount a comeback, but Kocaelispor remained organised defensively and limited the hosts to few clear-cut opportunities.
Agyei remained a constant threat throughout the encounter and came close to grabbing his second goal of the afternoon in the 68th minute, only to be denied by an excellent save from Grbić.
The victory strengthens Kocaelispor's campaign as they continue to climb the Turkish Super Lig standings, with Agyei once again playing a key role in attack.
The goal was Agyei's second in 11 Turkish Super Lig appearances this season. The former Ghana youth international is still searching for his first assist of the campaign but continues to grow in importance for Kocaelispor with his work rate, movement and eye for goal.
