Real Madrid were having a pretty bad start to the season, but ever since the international break, things have looked much better, which is a really good thing. Real Madrid have won all of their games since the return from the international break, and it is not like any of those games have been easy.

They faced Villarreal right after the break and were able to beat them. They then had the Roma test, which was very eye-opening but also very entertaining for a neutral fan. They were able to dominate Sevilla, a team that is known for making life difficult for Real Madrid. They then had yet another Champions League test when they faced Leipzig at the Bernabeu and were able to dismantle them 4-1 before playing Barcelona at the Camp Nou and winning 2-1 in unreal fashion.

These last few weeks have been great, but there is something about Real Madrid in general this season that has been much, much better than in the last three to four years. Even in the seasons Real Madrid have done well, their injury issues since 2023 have been astonishingly bad. Every season, there are some really bad injuries to some key players, which leaves the manager in a very bad position. Whether it is Rodrigo last season or Ederson, Militao, and David Alaba a few years ago, things just have not been great for Real Madrid.

However, it seems like Jose Mourinho has fixed a lot of those things. This season, according to Ramon Alvarez, there is a significant drop in the number of muscle injuries, and that is mainly because of the changes made by Mourinho and his fitness team.

Jose Mourinho and his staff have completely transformed Real Madrid from a fitness standpoint

The random gym sessions that used to happen have been eliminated, and physical training and strength workouts are now tailored to every player. It is not going to be generalised for anyone anymore, and everything will be tailored to the fitness levels and injury history of the player in question.

It would also only be happening for two days a week, which was not the case before Mourinho came back to Real Madrid. Mourinho also wants that after every game, players report to the training ground to perform carefully planned recovery and strength exercises, so that these injuries are prevented afterwards as well.

Obviously, the injuries mentioned above were long-term injuries, but even if you disregard them for a few seconds, Real Madrid were struggling with even small injuries that were hampering them in the short and long term. Even if some players were only missing games for a few weeks, the injuries would pile up and make life difficult for the manager.

Because of that, it has just been a really bad situation for the club, and it is a very good thing that Jose Mourinho has come back and established these preventive measures so that he is not under any sort of problems and the players are not in any problems in future weeks and months.

Mourinho would want his players to be in absolute top condition when it is the right time for them to be playing the big game of the season. The measures that he has taken for this season have been very impressive, and they have also not gone unnoticed.

Real Madrid are facing fewer injuries than they did in prior seasons, and it is down to Mourinho and his coaching staff for making that happen. Long may this continue.
