Bibiani Gold Stars coach Petros Koukouras has expressed concern over striker Kwame Opoku's injury following their 1-0 defeat to FC Samartex in the Ghana Premier League.
Opoku reportedly suffered a hamstring injury, with the forward travelling to Bibiani for further assessment to determine how long he will be sidelined.
The injury comes as another setback for Gold Stars, who have also been without creative midfielder Foster Agyei since the opening game of the season.
Speaking after the defeat, Koukouras admitted that the absence of key attacking players has affected his team's offensive output but remained confident in the squad's depth.
"First of all he pulled his hamstring, so it is quite serious, so he had to go to Bibiani to see for how long he has to stay out of action. It is too early to make an estimation, yes, of course, when you lose your top scorer, and also since the first game we don't have our creative midfielder Foster Agyei. We understand that the attack is becoming a problem, but luckily we have many good players in the team. Evans Adomako when he came on the pitch he replace Kwame. I think he had a very good game he helped the team a lot he hold the ball and made a lot of runs. So we will see how long Kwame will stay out of action, and then we will adapt our style of play," he told Gold Stars TV.
Christian Agyenim Boateng scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 26th minute.
Gold Stars sit 15th with 10 points after nine matches and face Aduana Stars on November 8.
