Stellenbosch FC will travel to KwaZulu-Natal to face Durban City in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16.

Stellenbosch will get their 2026-27 Carling Knockout campaign underway next week when the team takes on Durban City in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16. Final fixture details, including the date, kick-off time, and venue, will be confirmed in due course.

The draw took place on Wednesday evening at Langhams Lifestyle Estate in Fourways, Johannesburg, where Stellies were pitted as the away team against City, in a tie that will see coach Gavin Hunt return to his former stomping ground.

“There’s always been a real unpredictability about this Cup, and if you don’t treat it with the respect it deserves, you’ll come off second best,” Hunt said after the draw. “It’s an away game – but we are used to playing away from home – and it’s at a nice stadium, so I’m sure it will be a good game.”

The full draw for the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16:

• Kruger United vs AmaZulu FC
• Mamelodi Sundowns vs Marumo Gallants
• Golden Arrows vs Chippa United
• Durban City vs Stellenbosch FC
• Orlando Pirates vs Milford FC
• Polokwane City vs Siwelele FC
• Sekhuhkhune United vs Richards Bay

In 2023, Stellenbosch FC were crowned the inaugural champions of the Carling Knockout in the tournament’s current incarnation after recording a penalty shootout victory over TS Galaxy.

The Maroons weren’t able to replicate those heroics in the last two seasons, however, falling to Marumo Gallants at the quarter-final stage in both the 2024-25 and 2025-26 campaigns.
