Morocco moved within one victory of an unprecedented fourth successive CAN futsal title after sweeping aside Egypt 6-0 in the semi-final in Rabat.
The hosts produced another dominant display at the Palais des Sports Prince Moulay Abdellah on Monday to reach the final for the fourth consecutive edition of the competition.
Soufian Charraoui opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a volley after capitalising on a mistake by the Egypt goalkeeper. Morocco doubled their advantage a minute later when Ismail Amazal finished a flowing team move.
Amazal added a third in the 15th minute, with the goal confirmed after a VAR review following another uncertain decision by the opposing goalkeeper.
Morocco continued to control the match after half-time. Bilal Bakkali made it 4-0 in the 22nd minute with a powerful shot into the top corner before Charraoui completed his hat-trick with two further goals in the 31st and 38th minutes.
The result maintains Morocco’s perfect record at the tournament. The reigning champions have won all four of their matches, scoring 22 goals without conceding.
Their latest victory also secured a place in the final for the fourth tournament in a row, making Morocco only the second national side to achieve that feat in CAN futsal history.
Egypt remain the record holders for consecutive final appearances, having reached six in succession from the inaugural edition in 1996 through to 2020.
Morocco will face Angola in Wednesday’s final after Angola defeated Algeria 3-2 earlier on Monday evening. Victory would make Morocco the first team to win four successive CAN futsal titles.
The hosts could also complete another unprecedented achievement. If they keep a clean sheet in the final, Morocco will become the first side in the history of the competition to go through an entire edition without conceding a goal.
