€10m star ready to complete Chelsea transfer in January

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 23, 2026, Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez is reportedly ready to leave Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window after struggling to establish himself at the club.

The 18-year-old Ecuadorian international is seeking a move away after his development stalled following his €10 million transfer from Independiente del Valle in 2025.

Paez is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea and currently plays for the club’s Under-21 side, with manager Xabi Alonso indicating that the attacking midfielder is not part of his immediate plans.

The youngster endured a difficult loan spell at Strasbourg during the first half of last season, making 21 appearances in all competitions before Chelsea recalled him in January.

He subsequently joined Argentine giants River Plate on another temporary deal, but that move also failed to work out, with the club terminating his loan spell in August.

Since returning to England, Paez has remained outside Chelsea’s first-team setup, raising further questions about his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Alonso made his position clear when discussing the teenager’s situation in September.

"At the moment, he's not part of the first-team squad," the Chelsea manager told reporters.

When asked whether the situation could change later in the campaign, the Spaniard reportedly responded: "No, no, he's not part of the plans."

According to transfer reporter Nicolo Schira, Paez is now pushing for a January departure as he seeks an opportunity to revive his career.

Several clubs have reportedly emerged as potential destinations for the Ecuadorian, although no agreement has been reached.

Data analytics specialists SciSports have identified Spanish side Getafe as a suitable destination for the youngster. Newcastle United are also among the potential options, with the club receiving a Club Fit Score of 80.

Italian sides Bologna and Lazio, as well as Portuguese giants Porto, are also considered possible destinations.

A move away from England could give Paez a fresh opportunity to secure regular first-team football and rebuild his confidence after two unsuccessful loan spells.

However, Chelsea must decide whether to approve a permanent transfer or arrange another loan move to help the teenager continue his development.
