According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Friday, October 16, 2026, Chelsea striker Joao Pedro is targeting Didier Drogba’s record for the most goal contributions by a Chelsea player in a single Premier League season after making an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign.
The Brazilian forward has recorded eight goal contributions in five league appearances and will be determined to maintain his outstanding form as the season progresses.
Pedro has scored five goals and provided three assists despite missing Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford because of an injury. His performances have quickly established him as one of the Premier League’s most impressive players this season.
According to WhoScored, the Chelsea attacker currently boasts the highest player rating in the division, putting him ahead of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. His excellent displays have raised expectations about how much he could accomplish before the campaign ends.
However, breaking Drogba’s record will be a demanding task. The former Chelsea striker registered 29 goals and 10 assists during the 2009/10 Premier League season, helping the club secure the league title. His 39 goal contributions remain Chelsea’s highest total by a player in a single Premier League campaign.
Pedro could challenge that achievement with support from fellow attackers, including Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. Nevertheless, sustaining his current level of productivity throughout a full 38-game season will be a considerable challenge for the Brazilian.
Although Pedro has already demonstrated his attacking ability, he is yet to maintain a consistent goalscoring record across an entire Premier League campaign. At 25, however, he still has time to improve his consistency and establish himself among Chelsea’s greatest attacking talents.
His next test will come against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend. The Brazilian has failed to score against the Merseyside club in seven previous appearances, making the upcoming encounter an important opportunity to change that record.
A strong display against Everton could boost Pedro’s confidence and strengthen his hopes of pursuing Drogba’s historic milestone. Whether or not he eventually breaks the record, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will undoubtedly be encouraged by the striker’s remarkable start to the season.
