Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is determined to maintain close contact with promising academy youngsters Ebrima Tunkara and Orian Goren after being impressed by their performances. According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday, November 6, 2026, the German coach recognises the potential of both teenagers but is unwilling to rush them into regular first-team responsibilities before they are ready.
Rather than accelerating their promotion, Flick intends to monitor their development carefully and give them opportunities to become familiar with the senior environment while continuing their progress at academy level. The manager believes a gradual approach will allow the two prospects to gain experience without placing unnecessary pressure on them.
Goren, who is 17, has established himself as an important member of Barça Atlètic despite being only in his second season of youth football. The midfielder has featured in six matches for Juliano Belletti's team this campaign, registering two assists and demonstrating his ability to contribute to the side's attacking play.
His performances have also brought international recognition, earning him his first call-up to represent Israel. The selection represents another encouraging milestone in his development and reflects the progress he has made during his time in Barcelona's youth system.
Goren attracted particular attention during the club's pre-season preparations. He spent more time training alongside Flick's senior players than any other academy prospect during that period and was also involved in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The teenager made a brief appearance in the annual pre-season fixture, giving him an early opportunity to experience senior-level football.
Tunkara, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the most exciting talents to emerge from La Masia since Lamine Yamal. Despite being just 16 and still in his first season at youth level, the attacking midfielder has already been given the prestigious No. 10 shirt at Barça Atlètic.
He has made three appearances for Belletti's side this season and has contributed one assist. Although his senior-level experience remains limited, his technical qualities and performances have attracted considerable attention within the club.
Like Goren, Tunkara impressed during pre-season training with Barcelona's first team. Flick was reportedly enthusiastic about the abilities displayed by both youngsters, praising their natural talent and the quality they demonstrated while working with the senior squad.
Their progress has continued since the pre-season period, with injuries affecting several established first-team players and creating opportunities for younger members of the academy to enter matchday selections.
Goren has already benefited from that situation, earning places in the squads for Barcelona's El Clásico meeting with Real Madrid and their Champions League encounter against Aston Villa. Tunkara was also included in the group selected for the La Liga fixture against Alavés.
However, UEFA eligibility regulations prevent Tunkara from representing Barcelona in the Champions League at this stage, limiting his availability for European fixtures.
Despite their growing involvement, Flick is not planning to accelerate either player's promotion. His intention is to keep both teenagers regularly involved in first-team training while ensuring they continue receiving meaningful playing time with Barça Atlètic.
This arrangement would allow Goren and Tunkara to become increasingly familiar with the demands of senior football without losing the match experience needed at their current developmental stage. Barcelona therefore appear determined to nurture both prospects patiently as they work towards establishing themselves in the first team.
