Kylian Mbappé Closes Gap on Raphinha in La Liga Golden Boot Race After Scoring Against Valencia

Kylian Mbappé maintained his outstanding goalscoring form for Real Madrid after finding the net in their 3-0 victory over Valencia on Saturday night, moving closer to Barcelona winger Raphinha in the La Liga scoring charts.

According to a report from BBC, the French international scored Madrid’s third goal during their visit to the Mestalla Stadium, helping José Mourinho’s side claim another valuable victory in their pursuit of the Spanish league title.

Madrid approached the fixture determined to collect all three points and maintain pressure on Barcelona at the top of the standings. They made a strong start, with Federico Valverde breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute before Arda Güler extended their advantage eight minutes later.

The visitors carried their two-goal lead into the second half and continued searching for further opportunities. Mbappé eventually completed the victory in the 75th minute, producing an impressive finish to put the result beyond doubt.

The forward rounded the Valencia goalkeeper before calmly sending the ball into the net, adding another goal to his increasingly impressive campaign. His latest contribution brought his La Liga tally to 13 goals and strengthened his position among the leading scorers in the division.

Mbappé’s consistency in front of goal has kept him firmly involved in the competition for the Pichichi Trophy, the individual award presented each season to La Liga’s highest goalscorer. His performance against Valencia represented another important step in his pursuit of the honour.

According to figures published on La Liga’s official website, Barcelona winger Raphinha remains ahead of the Real Madrid attacker with 15 goals. Mbappé has now reached 13, leaving him two goals behind the Brazilian in the current standings.

The latest development means the Frenchman has reduced the distance separating him from the top position, keeping the contest for the scoring award firmly open. With 13 league goals already recorded, he remains well placed to challenge Raphinha as the season progresses.

For Real Madrid, Mbappé’s contribution also underlined the importance of his attacking influence as the club continues its efforts to remain competitive in the title race. His goal complemented the earlier strikes from Valverde and Güler, ensuring Madrid secured a convincing result away from home.

The 3-0 triumph at Mestalla therefore delivered benefits beyond the three points, with Mbappé continuing to build momentum individually while helping his team maintain pressure on Barcelona. Although Raphinha still leads the scoring rankings, the two-goal difference leaves the French forward within reach of the summit.

Mbappé will now look to sustain his scoring rhythm in Madrid’s remaining league fixtures, while Raphinha will aim to protect his advantage. Their performances could prove decisive in determining who finishes the campaign as La Liga’s leading goalscorer.
