Ghanaian midfielder Tyrone Owusu has been named the Dutch Eredivisie Player of the Month for October after an outstanding run of performances for SC Telstar.
The 27-year-old made history by becoming the first Telstar player to win the prestigious monthly award following a remarkable scoring streak that saw him emerge as one of the league’s standout performers.
Owusu enjoyed a sensational October, scoring five goals in the Dutch top flight, including goals in four consecutive league matches. His impressive run began with a brace in Telstar’s 2-2 draw against ADO Den Haag, the club where he developed before making his mark at senior level.
The Dutch-born Ghanaian continued his fine form by scoring against Feyenoord, Go Ahead Eagles and FC Utrecht, establishing himself as one of Telstar’s most influential players in attack.
His achievement also placed him in the club’s history books, as he became only the second Telstar player to score in four consecutive Eredivisie matches. Former Netherlands international Co Stout was the first to achieve the feat nearly five decades ago in 1977.
Beyond his goalscoring exploits, Owusu delivered an all-round contribution during October. He created 12 chances from open play, the highest figure among Telstar players during the month, while also providing one assist.
The midfielder also completed 102 passes in the final third, another team-leading statistic, highlighting his importance in progressing attacks and creating opportunities for his teammates.
Owusu’s influence was further reflected in his attacking involvement, with 13 touches inside the opposition penalty area, placing him among Telstar’s most dangerous players near goal. He also contested 38 duels, winning 17 of them, demonstrating his work rate and physical presence in midfield.
The award caps a memorable month for Owusu, who has become a key figure for Telstar and continues to strengthen his case as one of Ghana’s most in-form players abroad.
