According to a report by Football London on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Chelsea players are impressed with Morgan Rogers following his arrival at Stamford Bridge as the club’s record signing.

Rogers joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million, and the 23-year-old has quickly earned praise from his new teammates, who reportedly regard him as an exceptional talent.

The England international has also made a strong impression on head coach Xabi Alonso, making eight appearances across all competitions and contributing to eight goals.

In the Premier League, Rogers has scored four goals and provided one assist. He also played an important role in Chelsea’s cup victory over Leeds United, registering three assists.

Despite the pressure associated with his substantial transfer fee, Rogers appears comfortable at Stamford Bridge. He has also developed a close relationship with his best friend and Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer.

Speaking on The Athletic’s podcast, Ornstein discussed Rogers’ personality, his connection with Palmer and the positive reception he has received from other players in the Chelsea dressing room.

Ornstein suggested that Rogers’ talent and character have helped him settle quickly at the club, while his relationship with Palmer has attracted particular attention.

He acknowledged that the midfielder’s transfer fee could remain a subject of discussion but stressed that his performances on the pitch would ultimately determine how the signing is judged.

"According to what I've heard, the players think highly of him. In their eyes, he is the genuine article. As a joke," Ornstein remarked.

The positive reaction from his teammates suggests that Rogers has quickly established himself within Alonso’s squad, strengthening expectations that he could become a major attacking influence in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea will hope he maintains his impressive form as the campaign progresses. His ability to score goals and create chances gives Alonso additional attacking options, while his understanding with Palmer could become an important source of creativity.

Although the season is still in its early stages, Rogers is already attracting attention for his performances. Maintaining consistency will be crucial as he continues to face the expectations that come with his record-breaking transfer fee.
