EPL Table After Liverpool Won 2-0

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Liverpool secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton after delivering a strong first-half performance. An own goal and a finish from Alexander Isak gave the Reds control of the contest, while Brighton struggled to find a way back into the game.

Brighton threatened early through Yasin Ayari, who missed a promising opportunity before hitting the post in the 36th minute. Liverpool also created chances, with Cody Gakpo testing goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, although his efforts lacked the necessary precision.

Liverpool took the lead in the 17th minute when Pascal Gross inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Four minutes later, Isak doubled the hosts' advantage by converting Bradley Barcola's assist into an empty net.

The Reds continued to search for another goal before half-time, with Alexis Mac Allister heading wide from close range. Brighton enjoyed spells of possession but failed to take advantage of their opportunities, allowing Liverpool to head into the break with a comfortable lead.

Brighton introduced Jack Hinshelwood at half-time in an attempt to strengthen their attacking threat. However, Liverpool remained defensively organised, clearing dangerous deliveries and limiting the visitors' opportunities to create clear chances around the penalty area.

Liverpool came close to extending their lead through Mac Allister, whose close-range header was blocked by a teammate during a corner. Brighton responded with a dangerous free-kick from Luka Vuskovic, but the effort narrowly cleared the crossbar.

Florian Wirtz suffered an injury scare before leaving the pitch in the 65th minute, with Trey Nyoni coming on as his replacement. Liverpool also introduced fresh attacking options, while Brighton made changes in search of greater creativity.

Barcola missed a promising opportunity in the 73rd minute after finding space near the penalty area, firing narrowly wide. Brighton continued to push forward, but Liverpool defended effectively to prevent the visitors from reducing the deficit.

Liverpool managed the closing stages by retaining possession and protecting their two-goal advantage. Alisson remained alert when Brighton threatened late in the match, and the final whistle confirmed a comfortable victory for the Reds at Anfield.
