Bibiani Goldstars scored a late winner to beat Heart of Lions 2-1 in their Matchweek Eight game at Dun's Park on Sunday afternoon.

Kwame Opoku scored the opening goal for Bibiani Goldstars in the 24th minute before Stephen Afoakwa equalised for Heart of Lions in the 85th minute. However, Arthur scored in the 90+6th minute to give the Miners all three points.

Goldstars started the game well, with Kelvin Oppong coming close to scoring while Kwame Opoku caused problems for the visitors defence.

Their early pressure earned them a penalty in the 17th minute, but Opoku failed to score as Heart of Lions goalkeeper Prince Asempah saved his spot-kick.

The former Asante Kotoko striker got another chance seven minutes later and made no mistake this time. Although Asempah moved in the right direction, Opoku's powerful shot found the back of the net to give Bibiani Goldstars a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

Heart of Lions gradually improved their performance and began to control more of the game, but they could not find an equaliser before half-time.

The visitors continued to push forward after recess, with John Cobbinah trying his luck with a long-range shot as they searched for a goal.

Their efforts paid off in the 85th minute when second-half substitute Stephen Afoakwa scored to make it 1-1 and set up an exciting finish.

With five minutes of added time announced, Heart of Lions nearly scored a winning goal when William Oduro's effort hit the crossbar.

However, Bibiani Goldstars had the final say in the match. Arthur scored in the 90+6th minute to give the hosts a dramatic 2-1 victory and send their supporters into wild celebrations.

The late goal secured a valuable win for Bibiani Goldstars after Heart of Lions had fought back to level the score.

The victory moves Bibiani Goldstars to 12th place in the league table with 10 points, while Heart of Lions drop to 15th place with eight points.
