According to a report by BBC Sports on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Bournemouth delivered an impressive performance to beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, taking advantage of defensive errors to secure a convincing victory.
Rayan opened the scoring in the first half before Marcus Tavernier extended the visitors’ lead. Evanilson then added a third after the break to leave United with a disappointing result on home soil.
Bournemouth started brightly and threatened the hosts in the opening stages. Rayan missed a golden opportunity in the fifth minute when he headed wide from a corner despite being unmarked inside the penalty area. The visitors continued to create chances, with Tavernier testing Senne Lammens from the edge of the box.
Manchester United attempted to take control through their passing game, but Bournemouth remained dangerous on the counterattack. Diogo Dalot fired over after finding space inside the box, while Bryan Mbeumo later forced Djordje Petrovic into an excellent save with a low effort.
The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Justin Kluivert delivered a free-kick into the penalty area. Rayan beat the United defence before firing into the bottom-left corner to reward Bournemouth for their attacking approach.
United's defensive problems continued before the interval. A costly mistake allowed Tavernier to capitalise in the 43rd minute, with the Bournemouth attacker calmly finishing from close range to make it 2-0. The hosts struggled to respond, while Carlos Baleba sent a late effort narrowly over the crossbar.
Michael Carrick introduced Matheus Cunha at half-time in an attempt to improve United's attacking threat. However, Bournemouth continued to create problems, with Lammens producing an outstanding save to deny Rayan shortly after the restart.
United fashioned a few opportunities through Mbeumo and Cunha, but neither player managed to find the target. Their hopes of mounting a comeback suffered another setback in the 71st minute when Evanilson took advantage of poor defending and calmly finished from the edge of the box.
Carrick made further changes as United searched for a response, but Bournemouth remained well organised at the back. Leny Yoro missed a late headed opportunity, summing up the hosts' frustrating afternoon in front of goal.
Bournemouth comfortably maintained their three-goal advantage to complete an impressive away victory, while Manchester United were left to reflect on costly defensive mistakes and missed opportunities.
