Real Madrid Playmaker Tops La Liga in Two Key Creative Statistics Under Mourinho

Arda Guler has emerged as one of Real Madrid’s most productive creative players under manager Jose Mourinho, with his performances placing him at the top of La Liga’s key passing and accurate crossing statistics this season. According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, November 2, 2026, the 21-year-old midfielder has registered 39 key passes and 21 accurate crosses, demonstrating his growing influence in Madrid’s attacking play.

Although much of the attention surrounding the Spanish giants has focused on Kylian Mbappe’s goalscoring performances, Guler has quietly become an important source of creativity. His ability to identify spaces, deliver dangerous passes and provide opportunities for teammates has made him an increasingly valuable member of Mourinho’s squad.

Real Madrid continued their impressive form on Sunday with a convincing 3-0 victory over Racing Santander at El Sardinero. The result extended their winning streak to six consecutive matches, with all three goals arriving before half-time. Guler played an important role in the performance, once again displaying the qualities that have strengthened Mourinho’s confidence in him.

The Turkish international’s influence is also reflected in his expected assists figures. He has accumulated 4.32 expected assists, the second-highest total in the Spanish top flight. His 12 big chances created also place him second among La Liga players in that category.

Despite those impressive numbers, Guler has recorded only three actual assists so far, including his contribution against Racing Santander. The difference between his expected assists and completed assists suggests that several opportunities created by the midfielder have not resulted in goals.

Expected assists measure the likelihood of a pass leading directly to a goal, based on the quality of the chance it creates. Guler’s figure therefore indicates that his teammates have received numerous promising opportunities from his deliveries, even though not all of them have been converted.

His performance against Racing provided another example of his creative ability. The midfielder produced an excellent through ball for Jude Bellingham, who made no mistake with the finish to increase Real Madrid’s advantage. The move highlighted Guler’s vision and ability to recognise attacking spaces before delivering passes that split opposition defences.

Mourinho has increasingly relied on the youngster because of the different qualities he brings to the team. Guler is capable of moving into central positions to influence possession, identifying passing lanes and delivering accurate crosses from wider areas. These attributes give Madrid additional attacking options and allow the team to create chances through different routes.

He also provides a useful threat from dead-ball situations. His delivery from corners and free kicks makes him another important option when Madrid are looking to exploit set-pieces, adding to his overall contribution beyond open-play creativity.

At 21, Guler is still developing, but his statistical output and growing involvement suggest that he is becoming a central figure in Mourinho’s plans. While Mbappe continues to attract attention for his goals, the Turkish midfielder’s creative influence is helping Madrid maintain their attacking threat.

If he sustains his current level, Guler could strengthen his position in the starting line-up as the campaign progresses. His combination of vision, passing accuracy and set-piece quality has already made him one of the most influential creators in La Liga this season.
