Real Madrid Superstar Misses Group Training Due to Muscle overload

Real Madrid have received encouraging news concerning Arda Guler’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Racing Santander, with the midfielder not expected to miss the fixture despite recently experiencing muscular discomfort.

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the Turkish international missed Wednesday’s group training session because of muscular overload but is expected to recover in time for the upcoming match. The situation is being monitored by the club’s medical department, although there is currently no indication that he faces a lengthy absence.

Guler has become an increasingly influential member of Jose Mourinho’s squad, with his recent performances demonstrating his growing importance to the team. His contribution during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico provided another example of the quality he brings to the midfield.

Journalist Alvaro Esteban reported that the 21-year-old completed an individual gym session at Valdebebas rather than joining his teammates for outdoor training. The decision was understood to be precautionary, allowing him to manage the physical demands placed on him during the demanding encounter against Barcelona.

Madrid’s medical staff will continue assessing his condition before the weekend fixture. However, the midfielder is not currently regarded as a major doubt, providing Mourinho with encouragement as he prepares his team for another important league assignment.

Guler was not the only player to follow an adjusted training programme. Captain Fede Valverde also worked indoors after experiencing discomfort during the Clasico, while Raul Asencio completed an individual session on the training pitch.

The Turkish playmaker’s performance against Barcelona was particularly significant because he completed his first full 90 minutes for Madrid this season. He impressed with his movement, creativity and ability to identify spaces between opposing defensive lines, helping his team maintain control during important periods of the match.

He also played a part in the attacking sequence that produced Kylian Mbappe’s decisive late goal, further highlighting his ability to contribute to Madrid’s offensive play. His understanding with the French forward has continued to develop, with Guler regularly looking to supply passes that allow Mbappe to threaten opposition defences.

Mourinho has also demonstrated confidence in the midfielder’s tactical flexibility. During the encounter against Sevilla, the manager deployed him in a deeper midfield role, showing that he could contribute beyond his usual attacking responsibilities.

Nevertheless, Madrid are expected to manage Guler’s workload carefully as their fixture schedule becomes more demanding. Following the meeting with Racing Santander, the Spanish giants will travel to Greece to face AEK Athens in the Champions League.

Although the midfielder is expected to be available for Sunday’s game, Mourinho could decide to regulate his minutes depending on his physical condition. Protecting his fitness will be important as Madrid prepare for a series of demanding fixtures across domestic and European competitions.

For now, the absence of a serious injury concern represents a welcome development for Mourinho, who will hope Guler can maintain his recent form while remaining physically ready for the challenges ahead.
