According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Manchester United suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in their Premier League encounter at Old Trafford.
Bournemouth started the match strongly and took the lead in the 38th minute when Rayan scored from close range after receiving an assist from Justin Kluivert. The goal exposed Manchester United’s defensive weaknesses and gave the visitors an important advantage.
The visitors extended their lead just five minutes later, with Marcus Tavernier finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute after being set up by Adrien Truffert. The second goal left Michael Carrick’s side facing a difficult challenge before half-time.
Manchester United attempted to respond after the break, making changes in search of a comeback. However, their attacking play lacked the quality needed to consistently test Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Bournemouth remained dangerous on the counter-attack and capitalised on another costly mistake in the 71st minute. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens failed to deal with the situation properly, allowing Evanilson to score from outside the box after receiving a pass from Lewis Cook.
United continued to press forward in the closing stages, enjoying more possession and attempting several shots at goal. However, Bournemouth maintained their defensive organisation and blocked their opponents’ efforts to preserve their clean sheet and secure all three points.
The defeat is likely to increase the pressure on manager Michael Carrick, as Manchester United’s defensive errors and lack of attacking efficiency once again proved costly in front of their home supporters.
The result saw Manchester United drop to 16th position on the Premier League table, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone. Bournemouth, meanwhile, climbed to 13th place with nine points after securing an impressive victory at Old Trafford.
