Lawrence Ati-Zigi Continues Impressive Run at FC St. Gallen

Ghanaian international goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi is continuing to demonstrate his importance at Swiss club FC St. Gallen 1879, with his performances in the 2026/27 campaign highlighting his consistency, experience and contribution to the team's defensive structure.

The Black Stars goalkeeper has been enjoying regular playing time for his club while also representing Ghana at international level. His latest statistics show how important he has become to St. Gallen, particularly as the team continues its campaign across domestic and European competitions.

According to the available statistics, Ati-Zigi has made 15 appearances in all competitions during the 2026/27 season, starting every match. He has accumulated 1,350 minutes on the pitch, underlining the confidence his club has placed in him as its first-choice goalkeeper.

His performances in the Swiss Super League have been particularly notable. The 29-year-old has made 10 league starts and recorded two clean sheets. Although goalkeepers are often judged mainly by the number of goals they concede, Ati-Zigi's contribution goes beyond making saves and preventing opponents from finding the back of the net.

His ability to distribute the ball accurately has also become an important part of his game. In the Swiss Super League alone, he has completed 176 successful passes and delivered 71 accurate long balls.

These numbers highlight his involvement in St. Gallen's build-up play and his ability to help the team move the ball from defence into midfield and attack. His distribution provides another dimension to his role, allowing him to contribute to the team's overall playing style.

Away from domestic football, Ati-Zigi has also featured in European qualifying competitions, recording four starts across the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League qualifying campaigns.

At international level, the experienced goalkeeper has also represented Ghana in the 2026/27 campaign, making one appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

His continued involvement with both FC St. Gallen and the Black Stars is important as Ghana looks to maintain strong competition for the goalkeeping position ahead of upcoming international assignments.

With 15 appearances already recorded, Ati-Zigi will be hoping to maintain his consistency, improve his clean-sheet record and continue delivering performances that strengthen his reputation in European football.

For Ghanaian supporters, his regular involvement at club level is another development worth following as the Black Stars continue their preparations for future competitions.
