According to a report by FootballTransfers on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Liverpool have reportedly contacted the representatives of AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as they consider strengthening their squad during the January transfer window.
The 22 year old Senegal international attracted strong interest from Chelsea last summer, with a reported €55 million move coming close to completion on deadline day. However, Monaco eventually pulled out of the agreement.
Chelsea have since turned their attention towards Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, potentially giving Liverpool a better opportunity to pursue Camara.
According to The Sun, Liverpool have asked to be kept informed about developments involving the midfielder. The Reds had been monitoring him before the start of the 2026/27 season, and he is now considered one of their leading midfield targets.
Liverpool’s interest comes as the club reviews its long-term midfield options. Alexis Mac Allister’s future remains uncertain, and signing a young, versatile player could help the team prepare for possible changes to the squad.
Camara has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice and providing one assist. His performances have continued to attract attention as Liverpool assess their options ahead of January.
Monaco would reportedly prefer to keep the midfielder until the summer, although a departure during the winter transfer window has not been ruled out. Liverpool are therefore monitoring the situation to determine whether a deal could be possible.
Scott also remains on Liverpool’s radar, but Chelsea are believed to be leading the race for the England international. Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has also been linked with a move to Anfield, although speculation has eased since the summer window closed.
Midfield is not expected to be Liverpool’s only concern heading into 2027. The club could also look to strengthen its defence, with captain Virgil van Dijk’s contract due to expire next summer.
Although a new deal for the Dutch defender remains possible, Liverpool are reportedly considering potential long-term replacements.
One option could be to activate the buy-back clause in Jarell Quansah’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds have also been linked with Leeds United defender Tarik Muharemovic as they assess their defensive plans for the coming seasons.
