According to a report by BBC Sport on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea have maintained their position at the top of the Women's Super League table following an emphatic 6-0 victory over Charlton Athletic, while Manchester City remain level on points with the reigning champions.
The latest round of fixtures also saw Arsenal drop more points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Aston Villa, further complicating their efforts to close the gap on the leading teams.
Chelsea produced an outstanding performance against Charlton, taking control of the match almost immediately. The Blues scored four times within the opening 19 minutes before adding two more goals in the second half to complete a dominant victory.
The result leaves Chelsea with 22 points from eight matches, extending their unbeaten start to the campaign. They also boast a goal difference of +23, which keeps them ahead of their closest challengers.
Manchester City also secured an important victory, defeating London City Lionesses 2-1 away from home. Khadija Shaw gave City the advantage before Jana Fernandez equalised for the hosts. However, Lauren Hemp scored the decisive goal to ensure the visitors collected all three points.
City now have 22 points, matching Chelsea's tally, but remain second because of their inferior goal difference of +12.
Arsenal, meanwhile, were unable to return to winning ways against Aston Villa. Chasity Grant put Villa ahead, but Alessia Russo rescued a point for the Gunners with an 85th-minute equaliser. The draw leaves Arsenal seventh with 10 points.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their position among the top four with an impressive 4-1 victory over Birmingham City. Brighton claimed a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace, while West Ham United recorded a convincing 4-1 triumph over Liverpool.
Manchester United occupy fifth place with 12 points, while Charlton remain bottom of the table in 14th position after losing all eight of their opening matches.
With Chelsea and Manchester City currently separated only by goal difference, the title race remains finely balanced. Arsenal will also need to improve their results if they are to challenge for the leading positions, while the battle to avoid relegation is already becoming a major concern for the teams at the bottom of the standings.
