According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, November 2, 2026, Real Madrid are impressed by the development of 15-year-old academy striker Mikel Lopez, who has scored an outstanding 148 goals since joining the club's youth system.
The Spanish youngster is considered one of the most promising talents at La Fabrica, with his impressive physical attributes and goalscoring record drawing comparisons with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.
Reports indicate that Lopez has already caught the attention of several academy coaches. Born in 2011, he joined Real Madrid in 2022 after leaving Canillas and currently plays for the Cadete A side. Despite his young age, the forward already stands at 1.92 metres tall.
Lopez first made his mark in front of goal during the 2022/23 season, scoring 30 times for Alevin A. He improved on that return the following campaign with 38 goals for Infantil B.
His development continued in 2024/25, when he found the net 43 times for Infantil A, before scoring another 37 goals for Cadete B during the 2025/26 season. These performances have taken his overall goalscoring tally at the academy to 148.
His progress has also attracted attention at international level. Lopez recently played an important role for Spain at the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Baku, scoring five goals as the national team went on to win the tournament.
His performances have further increased Real Madrid's confidence in his potential, with the club already taking steps to secure his future.
Madrid renewed Lopez's agreement in November 2025 and continue to monitor his development closely. The club view him as an important long-term prospect and are keen to retain him as he progresses through the academy.
Lopez is expected to turn 16 in 2027, when he will become eligible to sign his first professional contract. Real Madrid will hope to convince the young striker to remain at La Fabrica and continue his development with the Spanish giants.
