According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Chelsea Women were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton Women after Lucy Bronze scored an unfortunate own goal to cancel out Sandy Baltimore's first half opener.
Chelsea entered the encounter hoping to secure maximum points, but despite controlling much of the contest and creating several scoring opportunities, they were unable to find a decisive winner. Everton, meanwhile, showed defensive resilience to claim a valuable point away from home.
The Blues started brightly, putting pressure on Everton from the opening stages. Katie McCabe, Ellie Carpenter and Erin Cuthbert contributed to Chelsea's early attacking moves, while Melvine Malard came close in the 18th minute with a header that failed to find the target.
Chelsea eventually took the lead in the 28th minute through Baltimore. The forward headed home from close range after Bronze directed the ball towards her following a corner.
However, Everton responded just five minutes later when Bronze inadvertently turned the ball into her own net in the 33rd minute, restoring parity for the visitors.
Chelsea almost regained their advantage before the interval, but Bronze's header struck the crossbar in the 39th minute. Malard also tested Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, who made important saves to keep the score level.
The hosts introduced Alexia Potter at the start of the second half before bringing on Alyssa Thompson and Sjoeke Nüsken in the 55th minute as they searched for another goal.
Chelsea continued to dominate possession and create chances, with Walsh, Nüsken and Bronze all attempting to break Everton's defensive resistance. However, Brosnan remained outstanding between the posts.
Further substitutions, including Aggie Beever-Jones and Giulia Dragoni, failed to change the outcome. Despite sustained pressure and four minutes of added time, Chelsea could not find a winner.
Everton held firm until the final whistle, securing a 1-1 draw and denying Chelsea all three points.
