Jude Bellingham helps Real Madrid complete first 2027 signing

Jude Bellingham is reportedly playing a significant part in convincing Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel to choose Real Madrid as the next destination in his football career, with the 16-year-old expected to complete a move to Spain in 2027. According to a report by FootballTransfers on Thursday, November 5, 2026, recommendations from the midfielder’s camp helped influence Gabriel’s preference for the Santiago Bernabéu.

Gabriel has already informed Manchester United of his intention to leave Old Trafford, and discussions over his departure are reportedly approaching a conclusion. Several major European clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, have shown interest in securing his services. However, Real Madrid have emerged as the leading contenders after the teenager indicated that he favours joining the Spanish giants.

The England youth international has been absent from training with United’s academy teammates for almost two months. His most recent appearance came on September 10, when he scored a hat-trick in the club’s 5-0 UEFA Youth League victory against Sabah. Since then, he has continued working separately with a personal skills coach while his future remains uncertain.

Reports suggest that Gabriel has already reached a verbal agreement with Madrid, although the remaining details of the proposed transfer still need to be completed. Bellingham is believed to have helped strengthen the Spanish club’s position by recommending the move to the teenager.

The midfielder’s own experience at the Bernabéu may have been an important factor. Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s influential players. His successful transition to Spanish football is reportedly viewed positively by Gabriel’s representatives, who may see Madrid as an attractive environment for the youngster’s development.

Real Madrid are said to be hoping to confirm Gabriel’s arrival in January. Nevertheless, the teenager is not expected to move directly into José Mourinho’s first-team squad. The club are instead likely to place him in their Castilla development side, where he can gain experience and gradually prepare for the demands of senior football.

Such a pathway would allow Madrid to manage his progress without placing immediate pressure on him to compete regularly at the highest level. The club’s intention would be to give him time to adapt to a new country, playing environment and development structure before considering promotion to the senior squad.

For Manchester United, losing Gabriel would represent a significant setback because of the youngster’s impressive record at academy level. He scored 23 goals in 23 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League last season, performances that strengthened expectations that he could receive an opportunity with the first team during the current campaign.

If the transfer is completed, Gabriel would become the first Manchester United player to join Real Madrid permanently since Cristiano Ronaldo moved to the Spanish club in 2009. The proposed deal would therefore mark another notable connection between the two European giants, while bringing an end to United’s efforts to retain one of their most highly regarded academy prospects.
