Ghanaian football fans will have their eyes on England today as two Black Stars forwards feature in crucial league fixtures.
At 2:00 PM Ghana time, newly-signed Sheffield United striker Jordan Ayew could make his debut as the Blades travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City in the Championship Matchday 11. The 33-year-old Ghana captain joined Sheffield United on July 1 on a one-year deal after leaving Leicester City, where he made over 100 appearances and scored 28 goals in the Premier League.
Ayew, who will wear the number 9 jersey with RAMS sponsor, brings experience to a Sheffield United side looking to climb the table. His movement, work rate and leadership have already impressed Blades supporters during training sessions this week.
Later at 3:00 PM Ghana time, Manchester City welcome Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League. City's new Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, who completed a £64 million move this summer, will be hoping to continue his strong start. The 25-year-old has settled quickly in Pep Guardiola's squad.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus will not be in action today. Spurs face Coventry City on Monday at 7:00 PM, giving the Black Stars attacker extra preparation time after returning from international duty.
Today's Championship and Premier League fixtures offer Ghanaian players a chance to make a mark before the next international break. With Sheffield United needing points and Manchester City aiming to keep pressure at the top, both Ayew and Semenyo have motivation to deliver.
Who will have the better afternoon in England? Fans in Accra and Kumasi will be watching closely from 2 PM.
