According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will be aiming to end the club’s poor away record against Everton when the two teams meet in the Premier League on Saturday.
Former England striker Peter Crouch and ex-Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell have made contrasting predictions ahead of the encounter.
Chelsea go into the match sitting fifth in the league table after securing an impressive 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, ending a run of three Premier League matches without a win.
The result helped restore confidence following defeats to Arsenal and Brentford, as well as a draw against Hull City.
However, the Blues face a challenging test against David Moyes’ Everton. Chelsea have won just once in their last eight away matches against the Toffees, suffering six defeats during that period. They will also be determined to avoid another heavy loss after last season’s 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
Speaking on the That Peter Crouch Podcast, Crouch backed Chelsea to claim all three points, predicting a 3-1 victory. Sidwell, however, expects a more closely contested game and has predicted a 2-2 draw.
Alonso will be encouraged by the availability of key players, including Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo. Morgan Rogers and Jordan Henderson are also among the players expected to contribute as Chelsea look to build on their recent performance.
Despite their attacking improvement, Chelsea’s defensive record remains a concern. Their victory over Bournemouth ended a run of 22 Premier League matches without keeping a clean sheet, highlighting their ongoing struggles at the back.
The Blues have conceded 13 league goals this season, leaving Alonso with defensive problems to address ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
Caicedo’s return to midfield could prove important, as his presence is expected to improve the team’s balance and provide additional protection for the defence.
Chelsea will also be without Reece James and Jamie Gittens, with the latter facing a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines.
A victory on Saturday would give Chelsea consecutive league wins and provide an opportunity to move above Everton in the Premier League standings.
