Kylian Mbappe has insisted that Real Madrid’s collective success matters more to him than individual milestones after reaching 100 goals for the club during their 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
According to a report by Madrid Universal, the French forward celebrated the personal achievement by helping José Mourinho’s side secure an important win in El Clasico. The result also extended Madrid’s winning run to five consecutive matches since the international break, strengthening their position in the ongoing La Liga title race.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Mbappe credited the entire squad for the victory, emphasising that the result reflected the team’s preparation, determination and collective approach. He explained that the players had worked hard ahead of the encounter and entered the contest with the right mentality to compete against their biggest domestic rivals.
The forward acknowledged that Madrid experienced difficult periods during the game but praised the team’s ability to respond when it mattered most. According to Mbappe, maintaining composure and taking advantage of important moments helped Madrid secure the three points in a demanding encounter.
He also recognised the significance of defeating Barcelona in the battle for the league title. However, Mbappe warned that the result would have limited value if Madrid failed to maintain their standards over the remainder of the season. He stressed that the team must continue collecting points consistently if it hopes to finish the campaign as champions.
Reaching the 100-goal milestone represents a significant achievement in Mbappe’s Madrid career, but the striker made it clear that his priorities remain focused on helping the club win matches and major honours. He also expressed confidence that he could add to his tally as the season progresses, provided he continues contributing to the team’s objectives.
The French international praised the quality available within Madrid’s dressing room, suggesting that the squad possesses the talent required to compete for the biggest trophies. Nevertheless, he stressed that individual ability alone would not guarantee success. Players must work together, remain committed to a shared purpose and put the club’s ambitions ahead of personal recognition.
Despite Madrid’s impressive sequence of victories, Mbappe cautioned against allowing recent results to create complacency. He believes the team must continue performing at a high level rather than assuming that their current momentum will automatically translate into silverware.
The forward also underlined the importance of approaching every fixture with the intention of winning. While overcoming Barcelona represented a valuable achievement, he indicated that the victory should be treated as one step in a much longer campaign rather than a reason to relax.
His comments reflect the demands associated with playing for a club expected to challenge for domestic and European honours every season. Maintaining concentration, physical readiness and a collective mentality will be essential as Madrid navigate the remainder of their schedule.
Mbappe encouraged his teammates to take time to recover before shifting their attention to the upcoming fixture against Racing Santander. He wants the squad to return refreshed and approach the next challenge with the same determination displayed in the Clasico.
Ultimately, the striker’s message was that personal records should remain secondary to the team’s ambitions. Although his 100-goal milestone marks an important stage in his Madrid career, Mbappe’s main objective is to help the club continue winning and compete successfully for trophies throughout the campaign.
