Kobbie Mainoo Reveals Alejandro Garnacho Moment He Will Always Remember From Man United Career

Kobbie Mainoo has identified Alejandro Garnacho’s remarkable overhead kick against Everton as the best goal he has seen scored by a Manchester United teammate. According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Friday, November 6, 2026, the midfielder made the choice while taking part in a question-and-answer feature published on Amazon Prime Video’s TikTok account.

The feature asked Mainoo to name the finest goal scored by a current or former United player. He did not hesitate, selecting Garnacho’s spectacular effort during the club’s 3-0 Premier League victory at Goodison Park in 2023. The strike remains one of the most memorable moments from that match and was an obvious choice for the midfielder.

The occasion was particularly important in Mainoo’s own development because it marked his first full appearance in the Premier League. While United secured a convincing victory, Garnacho’s extraordinary opening goal quickly became the defining image of the afternoon. It arrived just three minutes after kick-off and gave the visitors an early advantage.

The move began when Diogo Dalot delivered a cross into Everton’s penalty area. Garnacho positioned himself beneath the ball before launching into an overhead kick, making clean contact and sending it beyond goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The execution and difficulty of the finish drew widespread admiration, and it was regarded as one of the standout goals of the season.

When asked about his favourite, Mainoo gave a straightforward response: “Garnacho’s overhead kick against Everton.” His answer underlined the impression the Argentine’s technique and athleticism had made on a teammate who shared the pitch with him that day.

Mainoo also contributed positively during his first Premier League start. The midfielder played 72 minutes, completed 34 of his 41 attempted passes and won every tackle he made. His composed display was an encouraging part of United’s performance, although Garnacho’s spectacular finish ultimately overshadowed the other contributions.

The pair had built a close connection while coming through United’s academy system and making the transition into the senior side under manager Erik ten Hag. Their shared experience at Goodison Park therefore formed part of a memorable period in their development, with both youngsters involved in an important away victory.

Garnacho’s time at Old Trafford eventually ended in 2025, when he left the club following reported tensions with Ruben Amorim. His departure closed a chapter in his United career, but moments such as the Everton goal continue to feature prominently in recollections of his time with the team.

Mainoo’s choice serves as a reminder of the lasting impact of that finish. The goal required exceptional coordination, timing and technical control, transforming Dalot’s cross into an unforgettable moment. Although United have enjoyed many notable goals across their history, Garnacho’s effort clearly remains special to Mainoo, particularly because it came during a match that also marked a significant personal milestone for him.

The choice links an individual moment of brilliance with Mainoo’s own breakthrough, explaining why the goal carries meaning beyond its technical quality and remains his personal benchmark among United teammates today.
