According to a report by Football London on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea are prepared to keep Estevao Willian at Stamford Bridge beyond the January transfer window following his impressive performance in the 2-0 win over Manchester United.
The Brazilian winger was handed his first Premier League start of the season by head coach Xabi Alonso and delivered an impressive performance during Saturday’s victory at Stamford Bridge.
Playing on the right wing, Estevao caused Manchester United several problems throughout the match, with Diogo Dalot finding it difficult to deal with his attacking threat.
The 19-year-old also had two goals disallowed for offside. His second effort was particularly unfortunate, as VAR replays reportedly showed that he was just seven centimetres offside after producing an excellent finish into the top corner.
His performance came after growing frustration over his limited playing time under Alonso.
The youngster had been left out of the starting lineup for several matches, including Chelsea’s Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.
However, his display against Manchester United appears to have changed the situation, strengthening his position within the squad.
According to The Chelsea Chronicle, the possibility of Estevao leaving during the January transfer window is now off the table.
Spanish newspaper AS has also reported that Chelsea are considering offering the former Palmeiras star a significant increase in his wages.
The proposed contract improvement would reflect the club’s belief in his long-term potential and their desire to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
Alonso also showed his support for the winger during Saturday’s victory. With Chelsea comfortably leading, the Spanish coach substituted Estevao in the 87th minute and embraced him as he made his way off the pitch.
The gesture came after Alonso had acknowledged that the youngster was not entirely happy with the amount of playing time he had received.
Chelsea now face an important decision over how to manage the Brazilian’s involvement as they prepare for their next Premier League fixture against Sunderland.
After demonstrating his ability to make an impact in the starting lineup against Manchester United, Estevao has strengthened his case for more regular opportunities.
